I feel the need to take a break and won’t even try to figure out why. Just know another break calls to me – for however long. For whatever reason. Maybe for no reason. And it doesn’t really matter.

I think it’s important to honor not only the urge to blog, but also the urge not to. (Once again, Blogging without Obligation rears its beautiful head.) So easy to forget sometimes as we feel called to produce the next post and then the next. But for me, when it starts feeling like something I SHOULD do rather than something I feel moved to do, well…then I know it’s time to back off and see what else calls.

Life has flow and sometimes ya just gotta go with it. And right now that flow calls me to look away from the computer long enough to see what else I can find outside my windows – out into the world of new adventures. Not for me to blog about, just to live. Hopefully a cool adventure awaits. ¡Ojalá!

Two Great Video Riffs on the Writers Strike

Look. I know a strike is no laughing matter to those feeling the pain. But thank god that doesn’t stop comedy writers from taking well-aimed pot shots at the whole thing!

I found these two vids on the Writers Guild East website and think they add some terrific perspective to even the most well-written, heart-wrenching corporate cries of outrage.

Since I was a little girl, I dreamed about being part of a creative writing team like Sally, Buddy and Rob on the mythical Alan Brady Show. I couldn’t imagine anything more exciting.

Sitting with bright, creative folks as ideas fly fast and furious, and bits, skits, and stories take shape. And getting paid for it yet!

I also think this kind of day-in-day-out writing that forces you to be funny or creative or inspiring no matter where your head is that day is one of the hardest writing jobs imaginable.

This video is one of the shortest and best lessons on what really drives our financial markets. It also explains something about human nature that bums out Jon Stewart.

Greenspan can be a little dry, but worth listening to what he says. And really worth listening to Stewart’s great questions.
